The conference will include a number of social functions to allow conference delegates to catch up with old acquaintances and meet new friends, whilst enjoying unique Australian outback experiences, gaining access to special heritage places and experiencing true country hospitality.
Day 1 – Thursday 22 April
Early evening welcome drinks, 6pm at Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery (formerly Sullys Emporium), an adapted heritage building, and winner of many heritage awards, in the main street of Broken Hill, Argent St.
The Welcome Reception is included in the Conference registration.
Day 2 – Friday 23 April – Theme 1 – Management of Historic Towns
Optional pre-Conference Dinner drinks will be held at the historic Palace Hotel (also known as Mario’s Palace) at 227 Argent Street, where we will view the hotel’s interiors and the elaborate murals featured in the 1994 movie “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”. Pre-dinner drinks are not included in the Conference registration but can purchased separately at the Hotel.
Dress code – smart casual, with a hint of Priscilla – feel free to bring your boa!!
The town band will then guide us to the Conference Dinner at the Trades Hall – a short five-minute walk away. The Trades Hall is one of the most historic buildings in Broken Hill with very strong cultural significance and presence both internally and externally. The dinner will be fully catered and include a three course dinner and entertainment. Alcohol can be purchased separately at the bar.

Day 3 – Saturday 24 April – Theme 2 – Industrial Heritage
The dinner will be a relaxed event as a finale to the Saturday afternoon conference excursion and will be a good old fashioned country BBQ. Alcohol can be purchased separately at the bar.
This is included in the cost of the Registration for delegates and is part of the Saturday afternoon excursion. Accompanying persons can purchase tickets for the excursion and dinner at the Silverton Hotel separately.
Day 4 – Sunday 25 April – Theme 3 – Remote Pastoralism
Opportunity to attend the Anzac Day dawn service in Broken Hill.
Final sunset drinks at the Sculptures in the Living Desert. This is included in the cost of the Registration for delegates.
Accompanying persons can purchase tickets for the Conference Excursions and Drinks at the Sculptures separately.
